에그갤러리서 만난 문슬의 '불안의 서(序)'
한센인의 역사가 깃든 여수 애양원, 이 장소는 이제 에그갤러리라는 새로운 문화적 생명을 얻었습니다. 박성태 관장님이 10년의 약속과 김기라 작가님의 연결로 이뤄진 이번 전시는 공감의 확장이라는 측면에서 의미가 깊습니다.
<감각의 경계에서>와 <두꺼운 현재>전시 이후 여수 에그갤러리에서 진행되었던 문슬 작가의 세 번째 개인전 <불안의 서(序)>는 <두꺼운 현재>작업에서 느꼈던 여러 감정속에서 "불안"을 응시한 작업입니다. 여러 오브제를 통해 작가 문슬의 내면에 담긴 불안을 직면하고, 굳은 살을 벗겨내 보듬어 불안한 존재를 극복하는 과정을 담았습니다. 찬란한 삶이 불안하고, 불안해서 더 애달픈 저 너머의 것들을 사랑하며 사진으로 “불안의 굿판”을 벌이면서 방황하는 삶 자체를 투영해냈습니다.
3월 22일(토) 오후 3시 코트갤러리에서 작가와의 대화가 열립니다. 김혜원교수님이 진행하는 작가와의 대화에 여러분을 초대합니다~
The Yeosu Aeyangwon, a place imbued with the history of Hansen’s disease, has now been given a new cultural life as Egg Gallery. This exhibition, made possible through Director Park Seong-tae's decade-long commitment and the connection with artist Kim Gi-ra, holds deep significance in expanding empathy.
Following the exhibitions At the Border of Sensation and The Thick Present, Moon Seul's third solo exhibition at Egg Gallery, The Prologue of Anxiety, is an exploration of the emotion of "anxiety" that emerged from the artist’s previous work, The Thick Present. Through various objects, the artist confronts the anxiety within, shedding its tough exterior and embracing the process of overcoming this anxious existence. The brilliant life is anxious, and through this anxiety, the artist expresses a longing for the things beyond, depicting the wandering life itself with the "ritual of anxiety" in photographs.
An artist talk will be held at KOTE Gallery on March 22 (Saturday) at 3:00 PM. We invite you to join the conversation with the artist, led by Professor Kim Hye-won.
